The Gays in Utah

Gay men in general are so complex yet one of the most simplistic creatures I know of. But living in Utah, I have noticed they are one of the many oddest & dysfunctional people in this state. I can’t help but believe that I will never be fully happy & complete in this “Happy Valley”. For all of you that are not aware of the community in Utah ill give you a bit of an insite. Now when I say this I don’t want to offend or stereotype people (this is just my opinion) but the majority of the gay minority here are disgusting, revolting, and down right shameful. I have grown up in Utah & I know how it works here but I guess I should just stop trying. Why I feel this way? Because every single gay man or woman I have got to know lifes values are completly messed up. To me this is odd that the gay men around here are so wrong because compared to most men here; they mostly want to get married, have children, be committed & have goals. Now that doesn’t go with all men in Utah but its mostly how it works. I have a theory as to why the lgbt community around here are so dysfunctional, because as we (gays) all know that at a young age or I guess whenever you “findout” there is a misunderstanding, skip if you will of how we sexually understand ourselfs. Growing up we’ learn to understand ourselfs physicaly, emotional & sexually but as for the gay community some neglect and become self punishing for naturally acting out our normal lives (especially in Utah). So when they grow up in a place like this and feel physicaly, emotionally, and sexually frustrated they may lose their values. Then when a gay man comes out he has years of making up to do & the problem is, he is a grown man. They have different wants & needs now then when they used to. They have never gotten to figure out their self & now is a grown adult & they need to makeup lost time. The sexual tension takes over people & they compulsively act out actions that later they regret. I know from past situations its hard to have a strong spirit but its possible. Gays here never really got to know themselfs & sadly some never will get to. Ive seen to many people around here that act this way. I can’t point nor should point out someone or thing to blame but its such a damn disappointment to see the lgbt community like this. I can’t hardly get a date anymore because most of the time all they wanna do is have sex or do drugs. I need a man that respects himself as much as he would respect me. I don’t need a slutty trick that is looking for his next thrill. I just wish the men & women in Utah could understand, rejoice, get some damn help. I am so greatful that I came out when I did, had my first boyfriend when I did, got to be alone when I was and to know the difference. Because so many gays around here lack a selfesteem I will never forget how lucky I am.
